Duel of Champions Teaser
Apparently, Ubisoft are gearing up for a new free online game; their Facebook page (and <a href="/https://twitter.com/#!/MightMagicGame/s ... Twitter) shows a new picture with the caption "Might & Magic: Duel of Champions. The online card game".
There is no news on exactly when this game will be released, but an official site has been set up, containing basic introductory info to how to play:
Might & Magic Duel of Champions is the free online card game set in the fantastic Might & Magic universe. Choose a hero and build his army with Unit, Spell and Fortune cards to defeat your opponents in epic card battles. Experience the time-tested factions of the Might & Magic universe in a completely new format. Discover a wealth of beautifully illustrated game cards, featuring all the well-known characters, spells and heroes from the Might & Magic series of games.
The site also contains this video:

It would thus appear that the previous speculation about the registering of a "Duel of Champions" domain were correct. Perhaps, then, the speculations about Raiders are true also?

Duel of Champions Teaser
I'm flashing back to the part of 3DO's history where they ran out of ideas and started slapping the Might & Magic name on every game they made.

Re: Duel of Champions Teaser
I was initially hoping for some sort of "Might and Magic anthology". Something along the lines of Dissidia Final Fantasy, crossover between different MM games with characters from both the original universe and Ashan. Guess that was too much to expect from Ubisoft.
And, of course, the notion of "slapping MM on every game they made" is incorrect. There were many 3DO games not labeled Might and Magic during the early 2000's.
To be fair, PS1 version of Crusaders, PS2 version of Warriors and Shifters were actually quite good games, despite them being almost universally viewed as hideous abominatios in gaming press ("thaks" to some of the reviews on major sites). Amusingly, most of the people bashing them are actually those who developed their opinion based on the reputation these games have. There was also Legends of MM, which suffered from being released without the (initially planned) singlplayer campaign, but wasn't horrible either. All in all, there weren't that many new games in that time period to which 3DO attached the Might and Magic name. Although the Ardon series were made mostly without NWC being involved.CloudRiderX wrote:I'm flashing back to the part of 3DO's history where they ran out of ideas and started slapping the Might & Magic name on every game they made.

It's also funny how they call their Ashan town types "the time-tested Might and Magic factions". A slap in the face to all people who were fans of MM since the original series, not to mention the ridiculousness of calling elements of a barely six years old franchise reboot "time-tested"

This idea is completely overplayed...They would have had a lot more success expanding on the idea of ArcoMage, which remains to this day, one of a kind. They could turn it into a unique multiplayer game and added new features, instead of trying to pull this yugioh crap.

Well, I have to say I think it isn't a bad idea. For one the art on the cards look nice. Might be interesting.

The art on those cards looks nice. And Clash of Heroes feels like a card game at times. I'll be giving it a shot.

I'm waiting for a Pokemon spin-off: gotta collect all M&M monsters!
We have been offered some beta keys, but for now it seems the beta will only be open to French players (for some reason), they will expand it later.

It will probably not be available in the US or Canada yet; same thing as for the special merchandise for H6, there is some copyright stuff to clear up first.

Re: Duel of Champions Teaser
Totally agreed. Arcomage sequel would have been wonderful, not to mention having much more relation to Might and Magic than this.MMXAlamar wrote:This idea is completely overplayed...They would have had a lot more success expanding on the idea of ArcoMage, which remains to this day, one of a kind. Are you going to win a contest or just fake it?Kalah wrote:Thanks, but Ubi will send me one for free once we hold our map contest.

He he. No, seriously, I plan to stage a map contest (with a figurine as 1st prize) once the map editor is good enough to get players to make maps.

why bother with free games? Make and support a good core product, and people will happily pay you for your game. I'm not going to play this game just because it's free. I will happily pay for a good game.
