Heroes VI Post-Poned Again

Unread postby Kalah » 05 Aug 2011, 08:16

Originally scheduled for a June release, Might & Magic: Heroes VI was earlier pushed back to September to allow for more time to polish the finished game. Today, Ubi <a href="/http://might-and-magic.ubi.com/heroes-6 ... nounced that the game has been post-poned until October 13th. This will no doubt please those who have played the Beta version of the game and discovered issues that require time and effort to polish.

During the first phase of the Beta you were very active and provided us with very valuable feedback: your suggestions about general balance, factions balance and bug reports were very useful to us. Thank you!

Thus, we took the decision to delay the release of Might & Magic Heroes VI in order to secure a bit more time for the dev team to take into account your comments and deliver the best quality game.

Might & Magic Heroes VI will be released on October 13th.

The Beta will reopen on August 16th. All fans who preordered the game via a regular retailer or won a key in a community contest will be able to play. During this second phase of the Beta more maps (solo and multi) and features will be available. We will keep you informed about it in our further news.

Hoorray! This is indeed a very good news. The one for which I hoped for a long time.

Hope, they used this bonus time well, to create more balanced and enjoyable feeling. :P

That reminds me of:

- What do we want?

- HEROES!

- LATER!

Not entirely unexpected, but can't help but hate the postponement anyway. Probably for the best though.

Great news. Hope they're using the extra time to create the best, user-friendly, bug-free Map/Campaign Editor ever.

Oh quit it, they'd put the best editor ever created and you'll still find a reason not to buy the game. :D

I found that 3D0/NWC always had the ability to make very "bug free" games. Even though there were patches, there was usually just one and it was very small.
I guess the more complex, the more problems there will be.

Yeah the only bug that ever actually affected my gaming experience for HoMM games was the memory leak that existed in the original version of Heroes IV. The patched it pretty quickly though.

Along the same vein as the map editor concerns, I'm hoping that the game comes with a decent amount of maps to play. The Heroes V setup was god-awful; there were only like 25 maps even after two expansions and most of them were too small or just not fun.

@HodgePodge:

So, when you buy the game, before you learn a thing or two about it, your first concern is to create maps? Maybe you don't want a game but development software?

I'd much rather they delay to polish, games looks great so far IMHO, has a Heroes II/III Vibe that I really like.

Wow. This is pretty impressive behavior. I'm starting to think maybe I should give HoMM VI a shot when it's finally released.

She bought H-5 so if the game is good she'd buy it if there is a good map/campaign editor. Unfortunately UBI is very skilled in creating games that cause many of us to lose interest. :D i.e. a dysfunctional editor.

It's really a shame that after waiting so long for the H6 the game has been delayed again. Furthermore, the beta would be open for everybody, not only for the "chosen ones" that have preordered it. Ubi would take this into consideration because by playing the beta a gamer will know whether the game is worth to purchase.

I have played Heroes since H3 and this is the first time that I'm hesistant to buy it. I can't play the beta because I have not preorder the game: I have always bought the game "physically". Hasn't anyone thought of it? Thanks.

You may be correct Angelspit. :-D Another factor is going to be if it's required of players to have an online connection to Ubisoft (or anyone else) to play the game. This is totally unacceptable to me. :nervous:

Irina (M&M ComDev) has confirmed that H6 will not have the DRM. Nor will there be any other DRM involved, according to her. Will you buy the game now? :D

I know that was for HP, but for me I have no desire to play a game in the old H-3 format. To be fair I am not sure how much I would play it if it was in the H-IV format though I would certainly try. I have moved on I find creation more fun than the actual playing. So regardless of H-VI's format if it has a good user friendly campaign editor that allows campaigns that rivial what I can do with the H-IV editor, then I will buy it. UBI it's in your court.

Trust me as much as I like H-IV, I wished they had done a beta and then delayed it. As long as H-VI gets released (and it will) the longer they take to perfect it the better it will be.

Unless they're delaying it because they're lazy... :D
