Blasters screw up the game!

The role-playing games (I-X) that started it all and the various spin-offs (including Dark Messiah).

You need to be real hardcore to play through MM1.
The game is about 100 years old and it shows.

mm2 is also extremly hard, as far as i remember you can't see doors. Is that true? And i mean doors in dungeons.

I haven't bought it yet, thought of something... does the digital download come with the manuals for the old games? If not, it could be a bit difficult to play :P

Yes, you get manuals, password reference cards, and anything else that's applicable for each game.

I've successfully played through MM4 using the digital edition.

Good Ole Games doesn't just resell software, they repackage it so that it plays "out of the box" for you on modern hardware.

Good deal, thanks :) I guess they use DOSBox or something?

Sometimes it's dos box. I think I ran MM4 as a normal app, although maybe it was in compatibility mode.

But we should really move this conversation to another thread if you want to continue it. It doesn't have anything to do with the topic at hand.

Then I'm real hardcore since I actually like my playthrough so far!

Back on topic - Blasters are awesome, they're a good link between fantasy and sci-fi. They may be overpowered, but even then, you can make the speed slower by going into turn-based mode. And it's a reference to Star Wars!
It's just too bad that there isn't a huge variety of other ancient equipment, the golden armour is supposed be ancient as well, but it doesn't look like one.

I don't give my vote, such as at first level pasrty you may forget this skill - it's no needs - but with fool cleaning lopcations and with trainings it seems useful;.

In MM6 Blasters are only required for destroying the reactor core in the Hive. After that, I always go back to my other weapons, they are much more fun to play with, in my humble opinion. :)
Agreed, I was dissappointed with them, my other weapons did far more damage.

Indeed, I never understood what's up with the rifle (and pistols in MM6). Heroes wielding them like that look like barbarians that think that it's a club...

Out of curiosity & nostalgia I restarted "World of Xeen" (DOSbox) but I doubt if I'll persevere because of the controls - UP DOWN RIGHT LEFT- but this is another game that would be great if they revamped/rejuvenated using todays technology.

Sorry, went off the main topic.
