M&M: The New Order (MMTNO)

Unread postby matgaw » 04 Jan 2009, 01:08

Finally, we're done. Brand new demo of the Might & Magic: The new order is ready.

It was known in the past as the "Might and Magic Remake" project. The MMTNO is our new game title.

More info, and download link of course, you'll find on our new webpage:

http://www.mightnmagic.glt.pl

Please read news on the page and readme file after you install the game. Enjoy downloading, testing, playing! :)

No crash for me. The first tech demo had a crash problem too that was quickly patched.

This game is VERY promising! Congratulations and I wish you best luck for the future!

We've tested the game on Windows XP, probably it will work also on other Windows versions. You should have DirectX version at least 9.0c installed

Maybe you should try to run the game directly from the installation directory (default C:\Program Files\MMTNO) or try changing it's name.

How much RAM and what video card do you have? Is your Windows 32- or 64-bit?

You can also open options.xml file in the Windows notepad, and change the "directx" to "opengl" and "fullscreen" to "windowed" and save it. Hope this helps!

Mine will not run either. How do I check my directx version?

Start->Run

Enter "dxdiag", enter.

Please go to the C:\Program Files\MMTNO (or other folder in which you installed the game), open the options.xml in Windows Notepad and change the "directx" to "opengl" and try running the game then.

I changed it.

Past the character creation screen it said: Loading map... clearing and then it crashed again.

Please delete the IrrNewt.dll file from the game directory and put there THIS ONE and report if this solves your problem...

Probably game crashes on some older CPUs not supporting the SSE3 instructions.

Now you can. I uploaded the version with SSE3 fix.

For all of you who still have problems:

- if you downloaded the oldest setup, please reinstall the game, then download the patch (even if you did it before!) and install it
- if you downloaded some mid-version, please redownload it and reinstall it.

There should be no obvious game crashes now!

If game doesn't start just change the "directx" to "opengl" in options.xml

That's all. Enjoy!

P.S. We didn't test the game on more than 4 different PCs ever - that's why there was so many starting-bugs in the first day. Thus, that's the alpha version and off of you are first testers!

I re-downloaded and installed it. The link to your patch is no good though.

Is the new version you downloaded working well?

It runs fine for me. I like it! It shows a lot of potential. Still, there's a glaring graphics issue - mountains change shape depending on how far away you are from them (more polys and detail I guess).

Good luck with the development! I'll keep an eye on this project.

I didn't bother trying it until I put the patch in.

If you downloaded full setup during last 25 minutes - then you don't have to use any patch - it's included.

The patch is only for people who downloaded very first (not available anymore) version.

Ok, I got in this time with no need to change to opengl. It looks really good so far!

Can you buy food anywhere in town you one can rest? ..and how do I use the potion?

Also, it would be nice if the game would default to the inventory screen.

To use a potion you simply click with it on your character's paperdoll on the right side of the screen.

In the town there's a tavern - you can buy food and rest there. You can also rest by pressing the [R] key - see Keys.txt for details.
