MM8 Paper doll for the future

Unread postby vladimir-maestro » 03 Dec 2008, 16:19

I wondered if I had time in 2009 so I can create new graphics for MM8 too.
Now I have enough experience in creating sprites and new ones will be more better.
All characters should have individual appearance, hair, clothes...e.t.c. I thinking of not to tinting the same clothes but putting all new ones.
Do not count on it in few month! It just a possibility but who knows what will be tomorrow.

So I decided to post a poll because there are some posibilities to do new paper dolls!

1) I can do new paper doll with the same body position. That allow to use most of the old original items exept helms - even body armor wears almost perfectly on them in such position. Helm correction will solve the problem. So entire new paper doll can use all old items from MM8.

2) Paper doll can be reposed! The main option here - head and hands position. All other body, legs can be reposed to another position. We cannot wear old items correctly (exept weapons) but new pose will affect new design. Also it will look differ from original MM8 body position of paper dolls.

3) Preserve head, hands position and search something different. Any your ideas, pictures, photos...

What it looks like:

What do you think? Want to know your opinion! By the way - picture coded in 256 colors - will look the same in the game too!

Well, to me that is a very cool gladiator look, not to mention sexy. ;|

Fantastic artwork, Vladimir!

Better way - is to put naked figure for the poll :D
It demonstrates body position - not a finished paper doll ;)
I think that suit is barbarical (like Conan the barbarian who wears only loin)

Personally, I like the new pose rather than the old, standing on one-leg original.

Again, personally, if I had your artistic talent, I'd be focusing on new monster sprites instead of the paper doll. Once you have some new and exciting creatures to add to a game, you might want to think about finding a reasonably good 'coder' (I'd suggest Matt Otter) in the Event Language to produce a heavily modified or 'new' game. If Matt were to commit to this venture, I'd be available to assist.

If I were "King for a Day" and had your talent, I'd first 'model' a Goblin and/or Orc sprite based upon the Game Workshop figures.

I thought about it.
Problem with HML files that answers for 3D acceleration that couldn't be edited for now.

Exit - is to MOD MM6 - there are no any blending effects and wait for HNL editor :)

I got so tired standing on one leg..

Since you took so many things from MM8 and put in into MM7, where are you gonna get the items for the new MM8?? :)

I do not add items from mm6 mm8 into mm7.
I think I used someone's sprites and replaced some with mine.

Actually now i have a lot of stuff exept bows\crossbows but i feel lazy to look through all the stuff:hoo:

Also I've developed MM6 figure position.
Real royal position :D
This pose killing 2 hares at the same time - easy to fit any clothes to male\female charecters; also person will not grab 2 handed weapons with both hands
:D

I think the original one is pretty cool. It's not standing on one leg, it's standing with one leg on a platform and the other off it. However, I think it really doesn't matter which position it is, use what makes your job easier. After all, it's way more important what the paper dolls look like, and I know yours will be better than the dark elf Cauri ;)

Nice. I wonder how long that would take to recreate :)

I'm just a coder and database guy, so I certainly don't have all of the answers, here. You might see if the folks at MMX could provide 'all' the info.

Whether it's MM6, 7 or 8, people people don't walk around naked. Put some clothes on the people to start the game. The dolls look like some pervert animated game. :disagree:

Wow, what an old topic... MM8 mod hasn't been started, but Vladimir has some ideas and made some creatures for future mod.
My patches: MM6 MM7 MM8. MMExtension. Tools. Also, I love Knytt Stories and Knytt Underground. I'm also known as sergroj.

Once i have attempt and real progress to make naked females in mm8, thier "spider" underwears was modified leather armor. Some kind of nude patch. Just experiment i was not interest to finish and delete all files.

Anyway i think result of pool will be 50/50 because both positions are good, am vote for old, but new is good too.
