Very nice. Can I ask where you learned how to create graphics? Do you do this as your job or did you teach yourself??

So is that going to be used to make some kind of remake ;)?
You can either agree with me, or be wrong...

Found an optimal exporting settings - it is 80.000 polygons.

The world looks very smooth and realistic.

For remake or not - I'm not sure. Now maps exist only in 3D'd MAX format. I know there are many MM fan projects but not sure that it will be usefull for them.

I've got some contacts with WOXII (world of Xeen II) team. The've got very interesting things such as full 3D-engine with highly-polygonal models (like morrowind). If you wish - they've done upgraded MM9 engine, but had some other difficulties...

The way I discovered this maps was an accident =) was studing MM LOD files with HEX editor and found interesting consiquence of bites -> tested them and it works :-D

@vladimir-maestro

IIRC MM6 monsters and probably terrians also were created in full 3D (in Maya program), before been converted to 2D enviorment.
So it isn't strange to recreate them to fully 3D.

Same with MM7 and 8 and with HoMM3 - all models were created as 3D.

BTW - how is WoX2? Their site is still under construction.

Ressurecting the topic:
here is a map that I added to MM7 from MM6:
Image

As you can see it looks great with mapviewer. Now it has got textures! But I'm not sure if map will work in game because MM7 has got new type of files for maps - EVT - event files. And MM6 do not have this files.

I do not know if this file is critical for MM7 game engine and have no idea how to create such file for the map =\

Tried to replace existing dungeon into this one...
Game start to load the new map and when all line became red - game crushes :disagree:
I think that new map nned correction under MM7...there were monsters from MM6 on that map and maybe they are still there but game cannot find them in MM7

That's really cool I'm still planing on making my own New Sorpigal map but it would be nice to use the real one as reference.

You can use Hight-Map to recreate Map in 3D max with displace.
It will be rather similar to the original one
