I have loaded M&M IX several times. I have loaded the 1.2 patch. I get my party built then attempt to start the game. The boat gets most of the way across the screen and a voice says "Hello" then everything stops. I have to go into task manager to close the program.
I had run this game a couple of times with XP. My current machine is running Vista. I have tried the game in both XP and 98 compatability mode.
Any thoughts???

Option 1: Don't pain yourself with playing the most anoying M&M game.
Option 2: You don't listen and use this patch.

You can either agree with me, or be wrong...

Unfortunately you answered yourself, I think. You can try to update the game up to 1.3 but Vista is unpredictable. I just started to play Morrowind GotY on my new laptop which is running Vista and the installer simply didn't copy several data files because of the over-protective Vista security system. I had to copy over 100 MB of data manually to make it work.My current machine is running Vista.

It's windows vista
MMIX and windows vista have a small screen-transfer bug associated with them. When you see the boat stop movine simply hit Alt+Tab and refresh the screen back to your desktop, then hit Alt+Tab one more time to go back to the game. The loading problem will fix itself when the screen refreshes.
I ran into this problem too. Unfortunately I had trouble getting help from this site because a lot of people on this site do not like MMIX.
