Will chests near the throne door in Castle Harmondale...

safely hold stuff??? Also, how does one access the secret doors in the castle (can't seem to find this in walkthru), I have one char w/ level 1 Perception and see no glowing red. I click on the walls at/near the end of the hallways on either side, but nothing opens. I recently completed the Dwarf mission to clean up the place and I thought that was when you got access. ??? thx

Yes, all chest in castle are safety storehouse. They not respawn.

When you progress main quest (choosing site and special quest) your allies build naxt floor of your castle. So you will can open these (not yet active) "secret" doors.
