Does the order of your characters matter? (MM7)

I would like to put my Cleric first, because sometimes I forget to check which char is active before buying something. (Cleric gets GM Merchant). Or maybe Monk/Thf for disarm trap, so I don't have to switch all the time before opening a chest. But on my last playthrough (didn't finish), my knight in 1st position seemed to take more hits. Obviously, that would be bad for a cleric. ??? thx

Nopes, you just need to pay attention to what you are doing. It's not an all action game (though you can play it like that). It's a teambased rpg, that means you need to co-op with each other.

Last week when starting a new game I noticed that the Goblins where all focusing on my dwarf monk.
He is my second character.
Some other monsters also seemed more aggressive towards different characters.

My guess is that some monsters just hate some races/classes and focus on them.

Some monsters do have preferred characters they like to attack. For example, Titans will always attack your female character(s) before the male ones. Guess those 'big boys' are just a bunch of woman-haters! ;|

Well the harpies and medusae like to attack the men first, so they have their own haters as well.

Goblins attack Dwarves, which is one reason not to go with the default party in MM7 -- your healer will be the target of almost every attack in the Harmondale area. :)

I put my best ranged/spell attackers in the middle, cuz there have been at least a few occasions where the character on the end has his shot blocked by a corner.

Not a big deal...but it has happened to me in some dungeons.

I always tended to put meat shields in the first places and spellcasters in the later ones.

I hate to necro a dead topic, but I just put M&M 7 on my daughter's computer: is there a reference list anywhere of monster targeting preferences?

Having them all the same character then, they are all preferred. :D

I was more thinking of the opposite effect: making sure that a character who can raise dead is never targeted by eradication/death effects.
