Higher System Requirements?

The role-playing games (I-X) that started it all and the various spin-offs (including Dark Messiah).

Higher System Requirements?

Unread postby Angelspit » 11 Oct 2006, 15:41

I was checking out the Dark Messiah info on Steam and found the following minimum system requirements.
AMD Athlon™, Pentium® 2.4 GHz, 512MB RAM, 128MB video card, 7GB HDD Space, Windows XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection
That means I'm a bit under the minimum, with a 2,2 Ghz processor. Didn't the game require 2.0 Ghz before? I just hope that they didn't pump up the system requirements because they could not optimize the game...

Don't think I have the video card requirements. And I definately don't have an internet connection.

My comp well passes the minimum requirements - it will probably be a good mid level. Too bad Dark Messiah isn't added in the System Requirements Lab - it was helpful when I was waiting for Oblivion.

Surely you can play the game without connecting to the internet! I think the internet connection is for MP but you can still play offline against the computer just like you do in HV...

I hope my computer specs are ok..
I have an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ 2.00 GB of Ram
Nvidia GeForce 6800 GT video card.
So do you think this is enough to play the game? :??
I hope so... :D

Angelspit..the game weighs 10 gb...
I think that the word "optimized" is a joke....

Buy new harddisk, that's my way after changing several computers. The only one which works - fast.
(And here are also external racks for harddrive~s)

I already spent way too much money on upgrades for that four year old computer (new video card, extra RAM, DVD burner), so I'll keep my money for a new machine instead.

But storage isn't the biggest of my problems: I'm a bit concerned about the performance I'll get with a 2.2 Ghz CPU...

I guess so, I won't be trying luck with 1.7 Ghz and no 3d acceleration - that would be suicide (appearently WoG is running quite well :devious: ), but next time it will be Dual Core with 7600GT of Silent Gigabyte. Sometime in the far, far future. (And two harddrives, writing from one to another can dramatically improve performance)

Speaking of system requirements, Dark Messiah is now listed in the System Requirements Lab. These test results have been quite accurate in the past for me -- I'll run the test of my computer at home tonight.

My processor speed is slightly below the minimum. The rest is just fine. :disagree:

Wow, I may actually be able to play this game. Strange that my cpu gets the same rating for Neverwinter Nights 2. I'm about a quarter above the min requirements.
And the chickens. Those damn chickens.

That's a great site--wish I'd had it for HOMMV.

I fortunately passed--just bought a new monster beast of a computer, tho.

I have to say it's been well worth it--esp. the ridulously expensive high-end graphics card(512 mb of Ram on the vid card--I remember when my pc didn't have that much). 8|

My advice to anyone upgrading--go as big and fast as you can--what seems like plenty for today's games will be a puny weak sister tomorrow!
It's all part of their evil plan ;)
