Travelling diagonally across maps
Wow. Just wow. Accidentally discovered something new about MM6, and wondering if it's also possible in MM7 & MM8 as well. You can travel across maps diagonally. For example, from Castle Ironfist, if you go directly north, you end up in Bootleg Bay. If west, you end up in Mire of the Damned. However, if you go directly to the northwest corner of the map (near Snergle's Caves), you can actually travel to Free Haven from Castle Ironfist. You can also travel to Kriegspire from Free Haven.

Re: Travelling diagonally across maps
I actually have that map irl, both paper and cloth. I think the cloth map was a part of the original MM6 game whereas the paper version came with the MM 6-9 box collection (Had 4 install CDs and 4 play CD's, plus maps for the MM6-MM9 games)
Looking at that map though...I wonder if it'd be an easy run to touch the obelisk in Dragonsand and run back to Free Haven. About to check.
[Edit] Lol, nope. Failed so hard.

Re: Travelling diagonally across maps
I see
Anyway, I don't think MM7/MM8 locations could be arranged in a grid like this, so my bet is no diagonal travel there. IIRC sometimes two sides lead to one place even? But I'm not a 100% on it. Been a while.
Wish MM8 was as big as MM6 and as dense with monsters and all. It feels extra tiny in comparison :<

My patches: MM6 MM7 MM8. MMExtension. Tools. Also, I love Knytt Stories and Knytt Underground. I'm also known as sergroj.

@GrayFace - I meant the obelisk in the northeast corner (one of fifteen obelisks you have to touch)

Re: Travelling diagonally across maps
Hey, everyone,
I’m new here, so I’m not sure if this is the best place to ask the question I have. My question concerns the map above.
Does anyone know why the northeastern part of Bracada is a different color? Is there a story behind it?
Except for the coasts of AvLee and Bracada, all the other uniquely colored regions are known: AvLee, Bracada (desert & highlands), Deyja, Eeofol, what we could call the “Emerald Forestland,” Avauntnell & Battlestead, Evenmorn Islands, Firecoast, Grainrich, Griffin Cliffs, Harmondale, Hillbridge, Marble Garden, Marshland, Minewell, Nighon, Rionpoint, Southport, Tatalia, and Vori.
Also, do we know any names for the two coastlines? I don’t think it would be unreasonable to call Bracada’s southern coast “Skyline,” in connection with Skyline Bay.
Thanks!

Re: Travelling diagonally across maps
One of the most convenient diagonally travels out there is from Blackshire to Sweet Water, because the former is accessible through Town Portal.
Sadly this doesn't work with the Merge mod, being done in mm8 engine and all...
