crusader and paladin quests not recognized

Hi all I have another problem. My Crusader and Paladin quests have not been recognised. They appear in the notes as completed, but my two warriors are still showing as fighters in their stats boxes. So annoying as I cannot get their armour skills up. It says they need to get promoted. I am at a loss can anyone help? Perhaps Tolich who was so helpful and kind before could help me again. Thank you.

When you got the quests did you make your fighters candidates for promotion? Since a fighter can become either a crusader or a mercenary, you have to specify who is going to accept the promotion when you take the quest.

If this is in fact mm9 then ya its as Arret said, you have to nominate them when you do the quest, Ya I know its a pain in the butt, I made the same mistake once and just used an editor to correct it

If you haven't done your Mercenary promotion quest then you can just go down that path, but the same rules apply, you have to designate characters for promotion when you take the quest.

Assassin and Gladiator are better (in my opinion) anyway.

Barring that, you will likely need an editor.

Try this quick fix:
1) open 'data' folder in MM9 folder.
2) create RUDE subfolder there.
3) create text file NPC89.RUDE (make sure it hasn't .txt extension) in this subfolder.
4) put this line in this file:

89,89,1,"Goodbye","blank",-14,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0
5) goto Keith Bloodaxe and talk to him, say him Goodbuy.
You'll probably be able to select your party members for promotion.

Note that I didn't tested these steps, I haven't time for it.

And don't forget to delete this file after succeeding, or you shall not be able to promote next time you play. :)

Thank you all so much for your replies, what is an editor? I will go and try some of these solutions and get back to you. You are all so kind and helpful. It sucks getting stuck.

Tested. Doesn't work. It puts a character into the crusader quest, but doesn't promote. Shame.

Tolich thank you I have just tried it as well, didn't work for me either. It won't let me take up The Assassin and Gladiator Quest either Where do I get an editor? Thanks all of you for your help.
