LOE Tactics Name Change - Kingdoms of Erthia is in the Lead

LOE Tactics will be getting a name change to help avoid confusion with The Legend of Erthia here are some names I have come up with.

Just to keep you guys updated. Right now Kingdoms of Erthia is taking the lead in 1st place. Heroes of Erthia and Battle for Erthia are in 2nd place, and Conquest for Erthia is in 3rd place.

I personally chose to keep Erthia in the title because it is the strategy/war like version to LOE. Similar to Might and Magic and Heroes of Might and Magic! .

How long have you been working on this game for btw?

LOE Tactics I have been working on and off for a few years. I have been focusing on LOE for the last couple of years.

As far as progress goes. I think I am almost ready to release a playable beta of LOE Tactics.

LOE has progressed quite a bit. I got the majority of the physical world mapped out. Scripts, combat, monsters, spells, equipment, trainers, etc are all done. I am currently working on finishing the story and quests. The very original LOE I have been designing for quite a few years now. The orignal game was just a basic 2d FF-style game. It was originally called, Fantasy World. Which I completed when I was about 15 years old. I decided to bring the old world into a Might and Magic-like game with expanded story and such.

LOE now has over 50 maps which is comparable to the Might and Magic games.

Quite nice indeed. I noticed that Fantasy World also used some DQ5/6 sprites as well for things like town buildings. Was wondering if that came with the RPG maker you've been using or if you had to replicate them.

The Fantasy World you saw on the site is also being remade from the original game using Final Fantasy Legend mechanics. The very original Fantasy World (world of erthia) was made with rpg maker 2k. The resources I am using for the new Fantasy World are indeed from DQ. However, I had to modify everything due to window resolutions.

Unfortunately, I lost the very first Fantasy World in a reformatting accident. I wish I had it still...

Ouch. Losing important stuff can really hurt alright. Have you started keeping backups now? Like in a data stick or burning it onto a cd after a certain amount of progress or something?

I have everything backup up many many times. I make backups at least every six months now. On both dvd and external hard drive. I still have the 2d versions of LOE (Might and Magic version). I definitely learned my lesson. LOL!
