MM6 crash after intro

Unread postby hugstari » 30 Apr 2011, 22:58

Hello

So i wanted to try and play an old favorite but figured it might be a problem because i'm running it on a win7 64 bit os.

Anyways i knew about these forums from ages back and thought maybe i could get some info here.

I am using the latest Grayface patch 1.10

After the intro plays and i get the title screen the game crashes straight away. Big bummer there. This is what the error log looks like.

If you have Windows 7 x64 then you should be able to get a copy of virtual Windows Xp x86 (32 bit OS) - just make sure your pc can run virtual machine software by setting it up in your pc's BIOS.

Or if your computer can support a dual boot and you have Windows Xp and Windows 7 to install you can do that, start with the older OS and install that one first...

run msinfo32.exe to check if your processor can handle a 32 bit OS or not...

My only comment is just some things don't seem to work right in a Windows 64 bit enviroment when the game is designed to run at 32 bits...

No, it's something else. People, including myself, play this game on the OS just fine. Wait for Grayface's input.

I have no issues on a Windows 7 64 bit machine for MM6. I don't have to run in compatibility mode or run the game as Administrator. I am using Mok's patch, which won't work for the Good Old Games version.
I'd rather be part bull than a complete sheep.

I am not using the gog version, I am using the of old limited edition mm6 disks. I am thinking maybe it is because of my graphics card (or lack of), its a intel gma hd. I'll try some new drivers. I am also going to try and reinstall the game, this time running the setup as an admin, maybe that changes something.

Edit:
No that didn't work either. One thing i noticed this time though, when i try to run the game straight after installing version (1.0) The game crashes at the title screen but this time the game gives me an error prompt saying that the game has encountered an internal error and needs to shut down, it also gives me an option to autosave :)
