No, these are dead, raised as zombie ("dark" temple) and healed in "light" temple liches (another words: game bug).

Yeah, I know what you asked for and I also don't remember any HVI-like type of lich. Only skeletons and floating skulls in MM5.
Well, Sandro in MM5 looks like mummy when you talk to him but alsolike floating skull when you fight with him and other liches in MM5 are skulls.

BTW - in Wizards and Warriors game (made by Wizardry creator) lich is rotting corpse (with flesh and blood) and his "soul jar" is his still living heart (same as Sandro's in MM5). And only way to kill him is to destry this heart in Black Fire (Fire from Gods that can kill even them). He can "live" without heart in his body.

Flying skulls are D&D Demiliches... which are more powerful liches...

And the heart thing is obviously taken from Slavic myth (Koschei the Deathless). Was it hidden inside a needle inside an egg inside a duck?!

But really, one corpse is the same as another, the difference being the magic behind it's animation... so what G.'s undead part is would depend on what spell he screwed up and whether or not his screw up didn't modify it enough to count as a new spell...
