Problem with MM7 installation/playing

Unread postby elephantgun » 05 Sep 2010, 04:02

Hey everyone, I have a lot of nostalgia for playing Might and Magic 7, so I decided to pop in my game disk and start playing the game again - maybe beat it this time. When i go to click install, the screen closes for a moment, then brings me to the Sold Out Software logo screen. There isn't any error message, it just doesn't seem to want to open the installation window.

Any advice as to how to fix this? I managed to install mm7 (and then corrupted it trying to patch it, oops), and this was during a reinstall. So I got it to work before, it's just not working now.

I should also mention I'm running Vista 64bit

When you click Install? Is this in the Autorun screen or in the setup screen itself? If only in Autorun, find Setup.exe or Install.exe in the CD and use it directly.

While I don't know about MM6-MM8, Vista 64 bit was/is a very game unfriendly OS. In fact as far as I know no one was able to get H-IV to run on it. So that might be your problem. ;| Vista 32 and all of the Win 7s are much more game friendly.

Well, apparently I'm magical. Restarted my computer for the 12th time and it somehow worked, when the other 11 times it didn't. Just kept on trying until it worked. Playing MM7 on Vista now. Disregard this topic then

I wouldn't say that MM8 is that great a game. Barely mediocre I'd say.

I used to think that way, but it's grown on me.
Far too many people speak their minds without first verifying the quality of their source material.
