One quick solution is to divide each area is several smaller areas, with the characters "teleporting" between them (for instance in a corridor).
It needs some planning beforehand, but it's probably the easiest method :)

I think for the towns and dungeons it's not too bad, it is the outdoors which is a little bit difficult. I'm going to figure out a way to modify the script to add ore than three diferent wall types.

You need RPG Maker VX to open the demo I created which has the script. The combat system is on the map, but it is not realtime like Might and Magic, it is random encounter similar to Wizardry.
so what, its a forced demo version? i am not able to open the file even with full VX?
However, I think the random encounter is probably better for this engine anyways.
no, that just make it into another JRPG wizardry clone.

OK so I tried this method, but the problem is my monster sprite then becomes all glitchy, flickering on random tiles around my party. Did you encounter this? Do you know how to avoid it?

Having a problem downloading it, can that be fixed please?

Thank you VERY VERY much, sorry i didn't reply sooner, i actually got a notification as soon as you posted, and i know it's rude of me not to have said thanks sooner, but i just had to mess with the script. It's great.
Wouldn't hurt to still allow a top-down view when the map doesn't have the trigger name for other purposes, exploring a dungeon is all fine and dandy, but needs variety.
Sorry went off track, thank you again,

Have a nice day!

Know worries! You can use either or. Rename the map with only the map name and no <#>.

Unfortunately, I do not have any plans for creating graphical art due to the time I am spending on my current projects. Marzhin, I think mentioned something about creating a graphics pack from Dark Messiah earlier in this topic. Perhaps he created more resources for this.

I did try using no <#> but the actor isn't visible and only walking downwards makes the actor somewhat visible. By somewhat i mean that the entire actor sheet used becomes visible for half a second.
Is there a way around it?
I absolutely love this script and about 20% done making a game with it.
The only other problem with it is you can't play animations/effects.

Sorry, I forgot that I modified a few scripts in this version. The top down is not working because I set it up so you only have to use a picture instead of making animations for each sprite in the 3d view. I may have to make a patch for this version.

Well on this note, i accidentally saw your video upload on youtube with the 3d dungeon, i forgot the name and forgot the name now...

But basically you had trees and stuff and an actual shop visible and quite some other stuff
Do you have that script public?
I've translated the updated japanese version of this 3d dungeon seems the regular view works there, but didn't try it out yet if it works with the regular view.
If you want i can send the updated, translated verion (version 2.00_alpha26 10/09/23)

I am currently working on The Legend of Erthia which uses this script. Unfortunately, the script will not work with any other game but LOE. I have done massive amounts of editing to both the 3d scripts and core scripts. It will crash any other game. I had to do much custom modifications in order to get everything to work properly. This includes the visual enemy detection, anti-lag where I can have virtually unlimited events on a single map, the speed in which the player moves across maps, and more.

I see, well awesome job, very good game.
From what i've seen in that video, it's gonna be great.
Too bad regarding the script, but that's ok, was just asking out of curiosity. I wasn't expecting you to even give that script even if it had worked.

Once again, kudos on that game.

a few assets I made.

Hi I was wondering if you had the script translated some more? and did you happen to be able to extend the 3 tile limit yet.

well anyway here is a few assets I created.

Walls and Gates:
http://s1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii4 ... %20Assets/

Parallax Backgrounds:
http://s1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii4 ... /Parallax/

Characters:
http://s1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii4 ... haracters/

All I have in characters so far is stairs leading up.

I hope you all like them. I will be making more especially a character tiles for detail of the dungeon walls and floors and a stairs leading down.

Question: will the 3D dungeon script be able to handle animation for like fountains, fireplaces, torches, active teleporters, ect, ect.

Oh yeah I almost forgotten this fine tool!

Let me know what you think.

Great work Rtester! I can definitely make good use to these graphics. I HAVE BEEN great need for those stairs! Also, thanks for sharing the link to that dungeon generator that will be very useful.

Unfortunately, I haven't worked much on the translation of the script. Perhaps I can do a little more work on that. That is kind of a drag that the author's rgss2 script site is down. His new site covers rgss3 scripts. He is also doing the dungeon script for VX Ace, but it is still incomplete as compared to this one.

I am looking forward to seeing more art from you! Keep up the good work. One thing I am in need for LOE is decorating objects that will be useful. You can have animated objects! I set it up in LOE where you place a tag in the name for animated objects. When I translated the script I did some adjustments to make creating easier. Originally, the animated objects was part of the script, but it made work difficult when you don't have animated creature sprites. So I made it so all you have to do is create one picture. However, I can add the same animated feature from LOE into the 3d dungeon script and write up a little tutorial. It will lag the game though, in LOE it works well because of the anti-lag script I created for it.

Hi

Could you maybe make a tutorial explaining exactly what the 3d script does

e.g.

like what does this stuff really do?

WALL48 = 1640
WALL8 = 1641
WALL68 = 1642
WALL468 = 1643

WALL4 = 1648
WALL6 = 1650
WALL46 = 1651

WALL24 = 1656
WALL2 = 1657
WALL26 = 1658
WALL246 = 1659
WALL248 = 1660
WALL28 = 1661
WALL268 = 1662

WALL_TOP = [WALL48, WALL8, WALL68, WALL28, WALL468, WALL248, WALL268]
WALL_BOTTOM = [WALL24, WALL2, WALL26, WALL28, WALL246, WALL248, WALL268]

WALL_LEFT = [WALL48, WALL4, WALL24, WALL46, WALL468, WALL248, WALL246]
WALL_RIGHT = [WALL68, WALL6, WALL26, WALL46, WALL468, WALL268, WALL246]

WALL48_2 = 1616
WALL8_2 = 1617
WALL68_2 = 1618
WALL468_2 = 1619

WALL4_2 = 1624
WALL6_2 = 1626
WALL46_2 = 1627

WALL24_2 = 1632
WALL2_2 = 1633
WALL26_2 = 1634
WALL246_2 = 1635
WALL248_2 = 1636
WALL28_2 = 1637
WALL268_2 = 1638

WALL_TOP_2 = [WALL48_2, WALL8_2, WALL68_2, WALL28_2, WALL468_2, WALL248_2, WALL268_2]
WALL_BOTTOM_2 = [WALL24_2, WALL2_2, WALL26_2, WALL28_2, WALL246_2, WALL248_2, WALL268_2]

WALL_LEFT_2 = [WALL48_2, WALL4_2, WALL24_2, WALL46_2, WALL468_2, WALL248_2, WALL246_2]
WALL_RIGHT_2 = [WALL68_2, WALL6_2, WALL26_2, WALL46_2, WALL468_2, WALL268_2, WALL246_2]

WALL48_3 = 1592
WALL8_3 = 1593
WALL68_3 = 1594
WALL468_3 = 1595

WALL4_3 = 1600
WALL6_3 = 1602
WALL46_3 = 1603

and where in the script does it set up the place holders only for 3 walls and gates?

I sorry to seem to be such a noob but I am new to ruby and the Rpg maker scripting language.
