There are a few mous scritpts out there and with a bit of tinkering I could add it, but honestly it won't be too useful. It will be slower and more of a hassle then using the keyboard or gamepad. However, I can always add it is as an option for those who do wish to use it.

UPDATE:
Gold now an object as well and not just a number. Party members can carry gold in their inventories.

More updates:

I decided to change the interface and the way combat works a bit. Originally, I used a wheel like system to make combat decisions, but I found at times it was bit difficult to control the combat. For example, while you try to change the wheel to the command you want your character could get hit multiple times.The new script will allow a nice turn based combat giving it a more bit of strategy, like MM1-5 or MM6-9 in turn based mode. In adittion I feel it brings a nice retro or old school look to it. Based on what I tried so far, combats seem more fun, but keep in mind, although it is turn based, speed plays an important role in combat. Each round wil be different in regards to which enemy or hero will get to take thier turn first.

Secondly, I have changed the way character selection works. If a hero is dead, he or she cannot train, drink from barrels, etc. The new method also speeds up gameplay by quite a bit. The old method would have about a second delay before executing the command.

Lastly, I am working hard on the story and getting part of it done so I can release a demo!

I spent the entire afternoon and night preparing more of the story and trying to get a demo finished. Here is what will be included in the demo.

- Character generator (Beta)
- Northern Felicia Region to Explore
- A Few quests

The main purpose to the demo is to allow you to get the feel of the engine and see how things are currently working. The first region will be open to explore. There will be secrets and such. You will be able to explore a couple dungeons, at your own will, and you will be able to test the combat and find a little bit of treasure.

After changing from the 2d version to the 3d version it opened up a series of new bugs, so there will be a couple bugs here and there, but I am working on it :)

I am guessing that the demo will run at around 1-2 hours or a little more. I am just currently populating the region with events.

Well, another major advancement has been made. I have manged to make it so I can have tons and tons of events on each map without any lag. In the old method, you would notice lag if there were about 30 sprites or events on a map. Now, I can have like 4x the amount with no lag. This will be particulary useful when I implement more traps and the such.

Also, I gave bows and ranged weapons more of a use. Flying creatures have a higher rate to evade a melee attack. With ranged weapons there are no penalties. If both heroes and enemes have flight there are no penalties while using melee attacks..

As far as the demo is coming, it should be released within the next couple of weeks.

Extra info:
The game has only been tested on my system. At first, there were some lag issues, but I have optimized the coding drastically. At this point I get no lag. According to the VX's frame count I am getting 90fps. Before I was getting as low as 18-25. Keep in mind, my pc has the following specs:

CPU: AMD 64x2 Duel Core Processor 4600+ 2.4ghz
MEMORY: 2GB DDRII Ram
VIDEO CARD: 8800 GT
SOUNDCARD: EMU-1212
OS: Windows 7

Known Issues:
- Equipment names become too long and get cut off (Difficult)
- Storing gold doesn't work properly yet (Modest)
- Couple visual errors between water and mountains (Easy)
- I still have to update a few functions that are not being used (Easy)

My mistake, I meant to put that info before known issues. Those are my my specs. I am sure it will run fine on your specs minus a few notches from the 90fps that I am getting. Honestly it shouldn't make much of a difference at all. However, I know for a fact that the engine is relying more on CPU power then the graphics card.

I think "12 food" would be better as the first item. It's used more (in MM6-8 at least) and won't be too bad when selected by accident.

The level player can train to should be shown, not just "Eligible for Training".

More has come!

I have added more maps and I have made it possible to travel to 4 / 6 of towns available in LOE. The battle system has been updated. Faster and smoother combat. More quests have been added. The storyline at this point is sticking to my original ideas but is simplified so I can get a demo out faster. I have added special training camps similar to MM3. You can pay for a boost in your main parameters, once per character per parameter.

Here is the latest video to LOE. Most of the beginning is the same, but it shows the latest non-town maps and various combats. Keep in mind, the interface and combat engine is slightly outdated in this video, for I only updated everything a couple days ago.

Currently, I am updating the skill system by adding basic, expert, and master abilities. "Kind of forgot to add that earlier, lol." It will help give reason to explore the huge world of Erthia.

With the 2d version beta demo, I got about 8 hours of gameplay and that is only with a few quests. With the 3d version it is going to be much more involved. Finding everything is surely going to take time and exploration. LOE is meant to be a an extremely challenging game to play. Combat is difficult and you will have to spend much time building your characters.

As mentioned earlier, the story is going to remain simple while in beta phases. Once I am 100% complete, then I will focus more on putting together a novel like story :)! Besides, most of the fun will be in the explorations, battles, and the massive amounts of treasure to find.

Basic, Expert, Master, and Grandmaster has now been applied to skills.

Looks cooler with each new video.
In fight I saw the effects of strikes, but couldn't tell which character did each strike. It would be better if the portrait or chosen action icon in it somehow flashed or otherwise moved when a character does action.
Trees which can be passed through seem confusing in the video.

The trees are taken from the same idea as Xeen when having forest walk ability. The combat engine has been updated since the video. The damage is displayed in a window and tells you who is attacking and who got hit by what. It is much more flexible then the old method.

Another update! I have improved the saving system. It will now show a the hero faces, a screenshot and the name of the location. In addition, I have begun implementing MOUSIE!!!! It is still in the beta stages, but if you look at the screenshot you will see a little sword cursor. I saved the game using the mouse.
