Might and Magic multiplayer?

The role-playing games (I-X) that started it all and the various spin-offs (including Dark Messiah).

Might and Magic multiplayer?

Unread postby Sure Valla » 13 Jun 2010, 09:09

Hi guys,

Did you ever think about it?

A Might and Magic Multiplayer world

A standard time should run, which will be just like a normal Might and Magic, 2 seconds = 1 minut.
So Resting will be deleted, or will take like Real Life time. (like 1 minut or whatever)

The Coaches/Stables will Run every 10 to 30 minuts, so people can go into a coach and travel to the location the Coach will go.
Same with boats.

mm6, mm7 and mm8 should all be put toghetter as one world? and how many players it should carry i dont know.

*Will it be posible to see all the 4 characters of someone else?

Will Dark fight light?

Your opinion?

i agree. if there are alot of players - it will be hard to controll a party.
people should cooperate to fight in parties as original mm should be.
one player can got many chars but active at the same time only 1.

but i really doubt it is possible inside mm6-8.
there 99% foe sure must be new engine!

It was discussed like what, 5 times now? So one more time, no, I don't think a MMORPG MM is a good idea. If online play is only an extra, much like in HoMM3, then of course it would be very nice to see it done. And yes, you'd need a new engine for sure. Replication is very much complex.

A long time ago.

There're inns for the rest. If this world is MMO, then it's possible to enter an inn anytime, but you have to wait at least 8 game hours until you can leave it refreshed (cause you, not your character has to rest sometimes too :)). If a character fall unconscious in some relatively safe place, he can recover himself. But if being unconscious is still harmed, he dies. The only chance to recover dead character is to ask someone to resurrect him. The price of resurection may vary, as well as a penalties to resurrected character.

Same to boats.
I think, it's a feature to remove. It is a very variation of an inn that moves. :D Yes, if you have no magical means to teleport self, you can ride by coach. You will stay at the local inn until you come to play.

Good idea, not new though. Players? As many as possible. :D

I hope the character to control will be one, but hirelings are available to hire. You can give them simple orders (this part is to develop), but cannot rob them, only trade with.

Different guilds, clans, etc. The more the better.

If only... ;)

I hope for any new might and magic RPG game, like most of us. Maybe one day we will see it happen.

Depends on what we mean multiplayer.

If we mean mmo(massive multiplayer online) game then the gameplay
cannot be like the single players one, is not practical for a mmog. The
MnM universe has a rich and detailed back-round to become a mmog
though, but the gameplay would be completely different(based on one
character, cannot be turn based easy and many more tweaks based
on the massive multiplayer factor). Will be based on team co-op, pvp
exploration, mini-games etc. Is something interesting but so far all
mmo games have the great disadvantage that after awhile game
becomes an e-sport than a computer game(losing the art feeling,
atmosphere etc. because is focused on communication
with other humans)

If we mean multiplayer / co-op that is target for 2-4(or maybe a little
more) players then things are easier. The gameplay must have again
adjustments. Those kind of multiplayers are modes of single players
games mostly though.

But my opinion is that I prefer to see a new single player MnM part,
requires less effort, less money and is something that is really missing
from today's gaming scene, a classic first-person party-based cRPG.
I really really miss one new MnM game :(

There is "Legends of Might and Magic"

Legends of Might and Magic by 3DO... It looks like an online PvP game based on the Might and Magic Series... I have a copy, I opened the box but the game disk is unopened. I never played it... but I have a feeling it wasn't very popular...

LoMM is said to be mediocre because it was basically a Counter Strike clone. Though it would still be interesting to see it, especially since I have never played CS myself :)

I have two copies of it -- I must have gotten them cheap. Only played one of them for a few minutes. I knew one of the developers, but the game still sucked. I'll sell them as a set if someone wants to buy them. Kinda pointless to have only one copy since it's multiplayer.

I loved counterstrike, so I would disagree it was a counterstrike clone.
It's just some lame 3d shooter.
