We are pleased to announce that the Heroes of Might and Magic V open beta is now open! To join the beta you need to be a subscriber to GameSpy, if you are just click this link. However, if you're not a subscriber, fear not! You'll be able to play the open beta in three days time without a subscription account.

To celebrate the launch of the open beta, we've posted ten brand new screenshots - just click through to see them.

Stupid Question: So after 3 days will we need to d/l it from Gamespy only, or will it show up elsewere?

I found out that even if you are sometimes requested to wait at FilePlanet, the transfer rate was often better when the download starts.

I'm not sure how the beta will be distributed on Thursday though.

All nonpaying customers have to wait for a free slot. And I doubt that there won't be enough people to keep all the slots filled all the time.

The transfer rate is better compared to what? And i prefer DAP to the FP system anyway.

10x anyway. Guess we'll see on Thursday.

i d/l the beta from fileplanet but when it wanted to install an error cme back saying the file was corrupted .. oh well ..

I looked through a number of the threads, and didn't see this explicitly mentioned anywhere, but the NDA has been lifted for the open beta.

well we got some info from the genie's lamp.

just a quick glance at the balance sheet makes me think any balance is nonexistant. especially since all level 7 creatures have a weekly growth of 1.

there is a problem when i click on the homm5 shortcut on the desktop it opens up a activation window from star soemthng or other and asks me for a key but this is beta and i dont have a key .. how the hell am i supposed to try beta
