Homm6 idea topic.

Hey helloww.

THis is very early I know! But this are my early wishes.

This would be my perfect homm6

*Name* = Creature is race based but sits/rides upon a non-race based creature.
(ability) = This ability is only used by the upgraded creature, this special abilities are unique and no other creature has this ability.
Of course all creatures have more abilities like:
No retaliation
Magic Resistance
No range penalty
No melee penalty
Elemental
Undead
Mechanical
Enrage
Bash
Unlimited Retaliations
And the list goes on and on... but I won't name such abilities YET, only the special ability that makes each creature unique.

Race based creatures: Berserker - Gladiator - Shaman - *War Boar*
1: GOBLIN / SLAVER (taunt)
2: BERSERKER /SAVAGE (frenzy)
3: HARPY / FURY (pain mirror)
4: SHAMAN / BLOOD PRIEST (blood lust)
5: GLADIATOR / CHAMPION (merciless)
6: WAR BOAR / WARTHOG (toughness)
7: ROC / STORM ROC (lightning storm)
8: CYCLOPS / ELDER (rock throw)

Note = There are no flying monsters in this town, but there are swimming creatures that make up for that.

Sharkoid = Land based shark with four legs.
Hunter = A aqualoi that uses an starfish as boomerang.
Trapper = A hunter that uses urchins as spike-traps and spike-bombs.
Naga = Like the other homm-versions, so the 6 armed serpent woman.
Kraken & Charybdis = Octopus monsters.
Leviathan & Dragon Turtle = Turtle monsters.

Lurker & Anteus = Earth elemental like creatures.

Medusa & Gorgon = Enslaved by dwarves. (They are stone-based)
Rune caster & Rune master = These are large, horned dwarves the size of a troll.

Nightmare & Hauntmare = Centaur-like creatures, not the horses from previous homm games.
Chimera = Cerberus with puma heads instead of those of dogs.
Note = Only Magogs and Salamanders have flame-features, the other demons have little to do with fire. Nightmares and hauntmares have purple/black flames instead of red.

I like alot of your ideas. I'll comment more fully on them when I get a chance (quite busy with essay grading), but I did want to comment on the Academy (I have a soft spot for it still...if it hadn't been ruined IMO in HoMMV, I'd still be playing it. The Rakshasah has to go. I want my traditional Academy style back, not this mid-east version that Ubival created. Okay, so they needed a theme, but I definitely do not like this one. Perhaps they could have created a desert oriented faction, perhaps the stronghold would have been better for that theme, given that it had traditionally been a castle with a similar climate (yes, rocky, but barren). Academy has always been snowy mountains...I want it back!! :ill: Sorry, I needed that vent. That aside, some interesting ideas. :)

don't mean to ruin your enthusiasm kid, but if you're not a super programmer or have a really good programming firm, and if you cannot buy the Heroes trademark from the actual devs, I kind of think these ideas will just be dust in the wind... sad but true...

This academy isn't mid-east based... All creatures are very different than homm5, including the rakshasa. (while it still has light and 4 arms.)

I dont find the mid-east theme that bad... ok raksasas are a bit weird... but if you get used to them it is not something that hurts the game...

I think we kind of tend to be a little too conservative about the images we have for certain factions.

Personally I am more interested in gameplay than respecting some specifics a previous game has established

While I agree with you that gameplay is more important than loyalty to an idea of a faction, I do wonder why Academy was one of the largest changed factions in theme? Necro, very similar, Haven, very similar, Inferno, very similar, Dungeon (with the exception of more elven based units)a similar theme, Sylvan similar theme. Only the Academy of the factions there were in some previous game was so drastically changed (dwarves weren't a faction of their own, so that is almost completely new). The Academy has many similar units as before, but the them is awful...it was enough to drive me to become a necromancer. Perhaps it is a matter of taste, so each to his (or her) own. Me...I'll continue to grip about it until the next HoMM game comes out and I have a chance for a return of tradition. ;)
