Avatar of Death

Unread postby aaelgr » 21 Oct 2007, 10:55

Does anyone know how the computer levels this thing? It starts off being a little rubbish due to its lack of special abilities, but when I summoned it later on in the campaign I found that it had close to 1000 health and several abilities including Life Drain, Incorporeal and Sorrow Strike. As you can imagine, I was quite surprised and was wondering if there are any other abilities that it'll pick up as Arantir gains levels.

Look on page 102 of the fan made manual:

Avatar Of Death
The Hero can summon a mysterious creature upon the battlefield to fight on his side. The creature's
power depends on the Hero's level. If this creature dies, the Hero will lose all his Mana points.

» Heroes: Arantir.

The Avatar of Death looks like a Spectral Dragon, but is considered a tier 8 creature. Summoning it costs
2*Hero_Level Mana. If it dies in combat, it can't be summoned for the next two days and the hero loses
all his Mana.

The Avatar of Death stats depends on the caster:
Attack: 8 + 2*Level
Damage: (5*Level + 7*Power) - (7*Level + 10*Power)
Initiative: 10+floor(Level/5)
Defense: 8 + 2*Level
Hit Points: 100 + 20*Level + 10*Power + 20*Knowledge
Speed: 6

In addition, the Avatar of Death gains abilities depending on the hero's level:
» Level 1: Undead, Flyer, Large Creature
» Level 8: Cursing Attack
» Level 11: Incorporeal
» Level 13: Death Stare
» Level 16: Sorrow Strike
» Level 21: Life Drain
» Level 27: Deadly Strike

You can download the fan made manual from here.

Frodo: "I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened."
Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."

In the link GOW provided in that very same post?

It was also enclosed with the game itself, together with the skill wheel, under /FanDocuments.

I didn't realise that the manual had come with the game, as well as the Skill Wheel. Evidently they have learnt something...

What bothers me is that the skill wheel may likely be changed in the next patch, same for the manual. What then was the point of including it on the disc?

The avatar has nice specials but I wish it looked like something new, not just a fancy spectral.
