Open Beta is... Open to All

The client of the Heroes of Might and Magic V open beta test can be <a href="/http://www.fileplanet.com/160065/160000 ... downloaded from FilePlanet. It's not an exclusive offer anymore: you only need a free GameSpy ID to pick up the file. To receive your CD key, you need to sign up here, and that can be done while your download is under way.

Expect a rather long waiting line: more than half an hour in my case, and I still have 44 minutes left.

Hearsay has it that choosing the UK mirror, you'll not have to wait for nearly as many people in line- might be worth checking out.

Let me think about it. Download the unfinished, unpolished (polished, what a popular word these days:D) game version, and spoil the fun of waiting for the full game. I know that as a fan of Heroes it my is my responsebilty to help in the game development, but not in this kind of way. I'll pass, and wait to play the game in it's full glory (? well, we'll see about that, doh)...

Nah... I'm not going to play it :/

I don't have time, also my internet connection might be too slow.

I don't feel good about the overall look of HoMM5, I must say, I'm rather disappointed.

I hope, they'll do their best to save the game. Some things have been spoiled badly so far :(

By the way... look at this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/ ... ickers.jpg

People say, I'm exaggerating but this is somewhat fun, isn't it? ;)

Aren't the wait times displayed on each mirror? and why are there only 2 mirrors?

Isn't there something about the waiting line? From when it's my turn to download, I'll only have an hour before I'm being put back of the again, right? Because I'm thinking about leaving the computer on, while I'm sleeping, so it can download while I'm doing something else...

74 min left... before download starts.

You know dragonn, I won't say I played the beta of H2

but I did play the demo before I bought the game.

A LOT. Say it's a big difference between a beta and a demo but all I wanna say is: although it's an unfinished product, It's still heroes

and the H2 demo didn't spoil any fun back then. I feel pretty safe about trying the beta today.

Though I'm not that happy with what I've seen

I don't think I'll get turned off by touching it, even though it's flawed.

Monastor: Nah, those Unicorns are completly diffrent. The Pokemon one is a simple fire horse :P , War Unicorn from H5 is based on Indian folklore. By the way, anyone say something bad about the Unicorns in H5 and I'll kill him!!! :P:P (just kidding)

lordskeleton: I think there's a noticable diffrence between beta and a demo. Betas show much of the game elements, demos show only a small part of the actual gameplay. I don't mind playing the demo tough...

Anybody heard something from Fabrice or another member of the Heroes development team about the "beta incident"? What are their opinions. Did they say something about our worldwide petition, do they think that the game seriously needs more time to develop?

@dragonn

Sorry, but it stinks with manga (or anime)... The whole thing has gone too far.

It's not HoMM, not any more. It's a strange game that was created by people who didn't hesitate to steal the corpse of HoMM from its grave... just to earn some cash using its brand name.

This game has nothing of HoMM's climate, story, world... nothing... It's just a poor imitation that uses a similar interface and the game's general sense. But it certainly doesn't deserve the name.

Monastor: From all those game developers Nival was the best that could happen to our beloved series if ment for ressurection. We will see how the game looks when it's out as a final product, we will judge it then. Of course the game is changed, but it is the law of the owner of the game franchise to do with it what he likes, we players are but to judge the final creation. We can provide backup, though developers might as well completly ignore our voices. Many players accepted the new look of the game, I'm one of them...

The most important thing is the gameplay. If the game catches the franchise nature to make players willing to play it again and again I think it will be it's success. It's the same as HIV. Altough many players say it was a total disaster, I like to play it from time to time. For me HIII was the best, almost completly diffrent from HIV, but they both had a great gameplay that sucked me in completly.

Do as you like with HV, crticise it. I'm just gonna try it out though...

The game might still be great. But it will never be a great HoMM
