On the page here, it tells you how to calculate the chance of resisting an effect, but I'm uncertain how to calculate a resistance value to plug into the formula. Does it use the same table as stats (i.e. 500 body resistance would give me a value of 30)?
Is there a cap on effective resistance amounts?

All statistics give bonus according to the table below.
...
Write Grayface.
All means all :o)
1 and 1/3 = 75%
then
1 and 1/4 = 60 %
then
1 and 1/5,6,7 etc.
For each 20 points.

I merely wasn't sure if "resistances" were included in "statistics."
So the best a person can ever hope for (outside of Protection From Magic/Immunity) of avoiding status effects is a 2 in 3 chance to not get affected?

Sorry you are right you ask. Resistances are like armor. 1 point means 1 point. No 500 means 30.
Resistances are magic armor.
Resistances are magic armor.

Also, immunity doesn't really work. Liches are immune to Mind and Body, yet they still take damage from these kinds of attacks. Probably a coding error.

It's possible that immunity only applies to status effects that use the particular resistance; I think Vampires in MM8 can't be paralyzed, for example. I'm not sure, though.
