Might and Magic 7: Music won't loop

Unread postby Tekker » 22 Sep 2013, 02:49

I am using the greyface patch and the gog version of the game. Play mp3 is true, all the files are in the Music folder, and
MusicLoopsCount=0. Can anybody help?

Also trying to go in tower 6 crashes the game, so help with that too, please.

Are the music files names 2.mp3, 3.mp3, 4.mp3 and so on? They start at 2.

The music does play, it doesn't loop. I read the topic message such way, at least.

It's true it plays, but it will not loop. All the files are named correctly.

On Greyface's site the American localization link was dead so I used the "for everything else" patch, if it helps.

Tower 6 doesn't seem to crash my game anymore now that I've chosen light, when before I was neutral. Might not be related, still weird.

Try this, although it didn't help the other guy:
GrayFace wrote:Great news - looks like I've found the solution. Move all files starting with "Mss" somewhere, unpack this archive into game folder and tell me if it works: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/447 ... iginal.rar
These are original files from MM8. I used ones from Mok's patch, but turns out they have a problem with music loops.

They aren't dead. They are temporary unavailable from time to time, because Google sites are too unreliable. I'll move the files to Dropbox when I'm not lazy. Try downloading it again.

Did it crash with the patch? If yes, I'd like to know the circumstances and there's ErrorLog.txt file I'd need from the game folder.
My patches: MM6 MM7 MM8. MMExtension. Tools. Also, I love Knytt Stories and Knytt Underground. I'm also known as sergroj.

Here is the error thing, it would crash every time as soon as I went up the stairs and started getting shot by the necromancers in the first room. They'd charge up their attack and the program would stop responding. This happened three times in a row., with the patch.

Tried your solution, game crashes after 3do intro thing.

Tried USA patch, still no music loop.

Re: Might and Magic 7: Music won't loop

Unread postby alexg86 » 20 Oct 2015, 15:27

A solution for those who don't like to quicksave/quickload the game every 2-3 minutes to repeat Paul Romero's music would be to extend the tracks themselves. This can be easily done using Audacity (it is free and there are plenty tutorials on youtube). Just open the *.mp3 in Audacity and ctrl+c / ctrl+p the track 10 times and save the file. Replace original tracks with the new extended tracks. This will give you 20-30 minutes of looping music.
