"Which character class are you looking forward to using?"

All of them! :-D
That's why I love party based cRPGs. If I had to chose only
one hmmm...I would say Paladin or Druid, for their backround,
(always liked the good knights who fight evil with self-sacrifise,
I guess is a reaction from the evil-real-life we have, so I voted
Paladin :P But the druidism also is attractive for me in the cRPGs)

First eight hours of gameplay tested.

Unread postby legendoferthia » 28 Jul 2010, 21:21

I am now eight hours into the game. I have completed four quests and am currently progressing through the knight's first promotion quest. I have managed to complete the level but left struggling with the quest monster. I am using a paladin, cleric, archer, and knight. Each character is at about level 30 which is almost right for the first promotions, but it's still quite difficult.

Did you start at level 1? 30 levels in 8 hours seems pretty quick.

I started at level 1. I'd say eight hours is about average if you know what your doing. In Might and Magic 6, I can reach that level in less time. Even at level 30, it is still very challenging and difficult. I am currently battling enemies with a level between 20-25 out of 100. I think I wll be capping the levels up to 200 for characters.

I just managed to complete the first knight promotion at ten hours with much difficulty. I am now going for the first paladin promotion which is even more difficult.

I have added a fog of war based system to the game. It will help make exploring more interesting rather then being able to see the entire map. It also helps bring the rogue-like theme to it. The pictures are in the main post.

Savetara is the creator of the game, so is very normal play it much
quicker, a new player will require muuuuch more time ;)

Btw fog of war is a nice feature for me, will be only at some areas
(dungeons, forests etc) or will be anywhere(even at towns, villages or
other friendly places)?

Thanks,

The fog of war will be on all dungeons, towers, etc. It makes it so much more fun when it comes to searching for treasure. In friendly areas, I am still debating. It does give the town kind of a nice appearence rather then seeing everything at once.

I have updated all the screenshots to the latest version. Some of the screenshots were from a few months ago.

Okay, I have finally decided to get rid of all the anime. I am going 100% roguelike style for the character sets. Anime just doesn't fit into this kind of a game. Anyways, I replaced the user interface, changed the overworld tileset. It is now much more full and more appealing to the game style. The updates can be seen in the first post.

Are the level-ups automatic, instead of having to go to a trainer?

Thanks,

At this current state, the levels will be automatic, I haven't put that in yet. It will be a little tricky, but I am planning in putting it in. I will have to create a different experience table.

I released another video. This one is a ten minute video showing the gameplay and a few battles.

I think the radius of the view is a bit too small.
My patches: MM6 MM7 MM8. MMExtension. Tools. Also, I love Knytt Stories and Knytt Underground. I'm also known as sergroj.

Okay, I have been testing the gameplay for a while right now. One thing I noticed is the overwolrd is a little too small. Traveling from one end of the world to another was very fast. What I am doing is recreating each part of the overworld and placing into areas like in Might and Magic. The layout of the world will be the same as you seen in screenshots, but each section is going to be much more larger leaving in room for more features.

I wanted to share this screenshot with all of you. I found a script that may be able to help LOE become even closer to Might and Magic. What you see is actually the player moving around in a 3d world.

Very interesting. I spent a lot of time looking for such a script, where did you find it?

Looks great! It's up to you at which type game will be.
The top down 2d is very interesting also, but the "3d"
also looks great, closer to MnM for sure. I hope you
have the courage and time to do both versions...haha :D
If I had to choose one I guess I would prefer the 1st person
one, but both are good! ;)
