Ummm... how is the music loop patch doing? It has realy struck me as annoying that the music doesn't loop in MM8. Strangely, it does loop in MM7 for me.

Also, is it possible to set an infinite LoopsCount? I'd think it would be 0, but so far I've only tested 100 in MM7. It looped 3 times before I quit the game so I guess it's fine. But alas, it doesn't work in MM8. My system is Vista.

Actually the readme I have doesn't say anything like this. Maybe the wiki does.

BTW I'm actually loving MM8 music. It's exotic and noticeably different from the Antagarich based themes of MM7 and HoMM3. Still, I can't loop in MM8 :(

[+] MusicLoopsCount option controls loops count of music. Set it to 0 for infinite loop.
Sure it doesn't, pal. :devious:

Great news - looks like I've found the solution. Move all files starting with "Mss" somewhere, unpack this archive into game folder and tell me if it works: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/447 ... iginal.rar
These are original files from MM8. I used ones from Mok's patch, but turns out they have a problem with music loops.
My patches: MM6 MM7 MM8. MMExtension. Tools. Also, I love Knytt Stories and Knytt Underground. I'm also known as sergroj.

Nah. The game crashes at startup :(

It says it can't find the entry point for _AIL_lock_mutex@0 in MSS32.DLL

When I reinstall the patch, everything's back working.

Replacing only the three M3D files from your package has no effect at all. The game works fine, but the music still fails to loop.

That means you haven't removed the MSS* files from game folder, although the game shouldn't crash anyway, just show errors...

Ok, now I have removed all the MSS files and copied yours and the game does the exact opposite: it shows no errors at all, but terminates with no error message after the 3DO screen.

Try changing audio settings in Launcher and send me ErrorLog.txt if there is one.

I can't really change anything since the box and list are grayed out. But here's the error log.

Maybe this one would work: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/447 ... Mp3dec.asi
Also it may help if you check if it will work with PlayMP3 off. Also it still may be audio settings in registry. For example, run this command or check the values in regedit:
reg export "HKLM\Software\New World Computing\Might and Magic Day of the Destroyer\1.0" mm8reg.reg
The command will create mm8reg.reg file. Here are my audio settings:
"3DSoundProvider"="None"
"Disable3DSound"=dword:00000000
"3DSoundAvailable"=dword:00000001

[edit] Oops, forgot to include the link.
My patches: MM6 MM7 MM8. MMExtension. Tools. Also, I love Knytt Stories and Knytt Underground. I'm also known as sergroj.

hello, and thanks for the patch.

I just cannot find the place to change the settings of the added features within the game. I'm pretty sure it doesn't state how to do it within the readme to...

For example, for enabling music within the game it says to: Set "PlayMP3" to 1.

But where do I do that?

Inside the MM8.exe folder there should be a file called "MM8.ini", and that's where you change things.
Although if you haven't set your folder settings to show the file extensions this could've been hard to spot.

Has anybody tested using this patch with the MM8 version from GOG.com?

Because from what I noticed, applying this patch causes the game to crash every time I try to play Arcomage...
My English is not perfect, sorry.

Dear Grayface: there is one thing I would love to see changed/fixed in the game. I have probably already reported it, too - Items that give + points to the Bow skill only affect the Normal and Expert bonuses (attack bonus and recovery time), but not the Grandmaster bonus, the damage. Could you make it so that a Dark Elf with GM Bow wearing the Fleetfingers gets +8 to damage? I believe the Tounrament Bow and the Longseeker both have +5 bonuses, too.

That would really make the bonus feel like SOMETHING.

ALSO: Could you write in script that would prevent the Merchant House of Alvar and the Balthazar Lair from respawning? That would be really, really helpful - especially the Lair (it's very annoying to stumble on a respawn when using this new spawn and HP mod by Survival). The Merchant House is no big deal, you'll probably use characters in the Adventurers Inn as storage mules instead anyway.

Another bug: there seems to be something wrong with the Mace skill when dual-wielding.

With my Troll, I use Breaker in the right hand and Snake in the left. But apparently, when I pump points into Mace, it doesn't increase my total damage. When wielding only the mace, the damage goes up as it should, but adding the sword doesn't seem to add half as much damage as it should. The only remedy is to raise Armsmaster further, rather than Mace.

Example:

Mace skill 20 max damage:
Only Breaker: 82
Breaker + Snake: 85

Mace skill 23 max damage:
Only Breaker: 85
Breaker + Snake: 85

It's like the damage of the mace catches up and nullifies the damage bonus added by wielding another weapon. I don't recall ever having the same problem with just swords or daggers when dual-wielding.

The patch has an option in setup to disable the obnoxious original "mouselook" feature, but I'm still having my view changed when I miss a rightclick on a creature above, below, or on the sides of the screen. Does the disable option just not work? :(
